Co-hosts Kate Kulzick and Sean Colletti get together to talk all things "Dolce," including the ridiculously good direction of Vincenzo Natali and the crucial reunion of Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter. Warning: Some of the audio clips in this episode somewhat drown out the discussion for a couple seconds. You can blame Sean for this, because he is technologically inept. We're not even sure how he exists in this day and age. Weird. Welcome back to This Is Our Design. Time to start worrying? Since the recording of this podcast and the posting of it, Amazon and Netflix have announced that they're passing on Bryan Fuller's arthouse series. Even if the worst possible thing happens, though, we've hired billions of monkeys to develop future scripts for Hannibal, which doesn't really matter if the show isn't picked up by another network. Also, couldn't we have used that money in a Kickstarter for the show or something? We didn't think this through... But co-hosts Sean Colletti and Kate Kulzick certainly think other things through this week with the help of Dennis Perkins and Emily L. Stephens, of The A.V. Club fame. It's an event-filled episode, including another iconic fight between Jack Crawford and Hannibal Lecter. Yet there's plenty more to talk about, such as character motivations, the role of happiness, and of course, music and other elements worth pointing out in "Kate's Classical Corner" and "The Devil in the Details".

Jack is there. And even Hannibal is there. It was all a practical joke! Ha ha, silly Will. Your brain must have been flaring up again. Either that or someone has a case of the Mondays. Whoa, that got away from us. But few things get away from co-hosts Kate Kulzick and Sean Colletti, who are joined this week by Sound On Sight film and television critic Simon Howell to break down "Primavera" and all its not-creepy-at-all goodness (*insert hart pun*). This is 2015. This is the Year of the Sheep. This is the summer television season. This Is Our Design At long last, Hannibal returns to NBC for its third season (a first for visionary creator Bryan Fuller). Accompanying its return is the dedicated podcast co-hosted by Sean Colletti and Kate Kulzick. For the season three premiere, the crew is joined by the fellow Hannibal podcast crew of Eat the Rudecast: Cooper, Miko, and Ophilia. An elaborate set-up for an elaborate series: Dr. Lecter would be proud (or he would eat all of us. Both are acceptable, as far as we're concerned). On this Italian excursion, the panel talks about storytelling, aesthetics vs. ethics, observation vs. participation, complicity, Dante, and the inevitability of what's to come following the events of "Antipasto". But before that, feast your ears on the new recurring segment for TIOD: "Hannibal by the Numbers," in which Sean takes on needlessly painstaking work and countless pauses during viewings to tally numbers of lines of dialog and scenes for his own nefarious purposes. Welcome to 2015 and to another episode of This Is Our Design, the Hannibal podcast that just won't go away. Ever! Seriously, if we find out there's a final season of this show, we're going to record those podcast episodes over the course of several decades (not really: Sean might die by then, because he has doubts about how long he can live without this show airing new episodes). Concluding the second season of This is Our Design, which analyzes the first season of Hannibal, is no small task. Thus, co-hosts Sean Colletti and Kate Kulzick have brought back the big guns wielded by Noel Kirkpatrick of TV.com in a podcast that is long. Very long. Extremely long. Too long? No. But to preview the topics discussed would be a fool's errand. Take it from us that this podcast is comprehensive. As with our podcast on the season two finale, there's a bunch of best-of goodies towards the end. That doesn't mean, though, that we neglect our recurring segments, "Kate's Classical Corner," "The Devil in the Details," and "Spoiled Meat," which is featured here for a final time.
