Allison, Noel, and Kate look back on season one of Avatar: The Last Airbender, then turn the mic over to the listeners. Appa’s the best, lots of love for “The Blue Spirit,” and too many visuals to choose from. Tune in for our thoughts on the season and come back tomorrow as we start our journey through season two with episodes one and two, “The Avatar State” and “The Cave of Two Lovers.”
Shout-out to our Zoom listeners, Keenan, Marcus, Scottie, and Tom. Thanks for coming on and sharing your experience watching season one!

When I first watched the show, Book 1 stood out as being the most varied. The stories are evenly spread across the four countries/cultures/elements – something you don’t get with the other Books. Book 1 is probably too varied to be called ‘Water’ though. Also, if they are naming books after elements, why aren’t there 4 seasons?
In rewatching I found the visuals and action were better than I remembered. The Jet episode was beautiful and the style choices in the finale were excellent. I really appreciate getting Noel’s insights as well, especially the Filoni of it all.
