It may have taken us a while, but we’re finally keeping to our word and catching up with the second season of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger. We were mixed on season one. Did season two right the ship, and what’s up next for Tyrone and Tandy? Before that, though, there’s a full week of TV to discuss. We kick things off with the comedies, including Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Drunk History, and Los Espookys, then move on to the genre and drama offerings, including 7 Seeds Part 1, Claws, Big Little Lies, and Queen Sugar.

Hey you 🙂
I was very surprised you ended up linking season two of C&D as much us you did. Probably even more than I did.
Maybe it’s because you kind of binged it and I watched week to week, but I really got sick of the dark dimension or however you wanna call it. The getting there and bribing the gatekeeper and transporting into the mall eventually got boring. Yes, the record store worked really great as a visualization of how much power our baddie could have and a lot of work went into it. But in the end, we spent way too much time there for my taste. I liked the much more different visual and thematic representations of the minds Tandy and Tyrone walked into in season 1 much more compelling.
Obviously, I also was frustrated with how little a role Evita played (not importance but screen time). They cut back so much on her time that she could basically be anyone. They could have also just let her aunt be the on helping them, as Evita’s sacrifice didn’t really resonate with me here. Whatever effect that story “arc” had on me, has all been set-up in season 1 and season 2 barely gave that character to remind us that she’s still here. Basically, I don’t see her in a season 3 if there will be one.
I do come around slowly to the idea of Tandy and Tyrone as a romantic couple as hinted in the choice of literal hand-holding in the last scene – even though I don’t need it and I really loved both of them growing closer as friends and becoming the other’s most trusted and important person. I just hope that they don’t go too much into soap territory with Tandy’s (warranted) trust issues and how the importance Tyrone has for her as a confidant, friend and partner in crime translates into her being her significant other. If it is well made, it could be extremely interesting and have me standing next to the track hyping the ‘ship train. But it could also be a overtly dramatic mess of misunderstandings, bad communication and even worse tropes.
The show did not give us any indication it would go down that road and the actors definitely can handle it. I am just cautious because… Freeform 😉
That reminds me as I am bad with remembering stuff that used to be important to me: Did you guys watch Sweet/Vicious back when it aired? Because even though that was hard to watch, it was also freaking amazing!
