What we lack in audio quality this week, we make up for with fabulous TV to discuss. Kate is on location and battling technical difficulties (apologies for the sound quality—we’ll be back to our usual standard next episode). We kick things off with a truncated week in TV, including the premiere of Miracle Workers, another fun Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, a brief look at One Day at a Time season three, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, I Am the Night, and the penultimate RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars. Then we move over to the spotlight section and dive in with the terrific Russian Doll, both spoiler-free and spoiler happy. Take a listen, then reach out with your thoughts on the week’s TV, and whether you want Russian Doll to come back for season two.

I disagree that the show has a good explanation of quantum entanglement. Basically no work of entertainment is going to do that well. It does not mean “the same thing” happens to another particle. It does mean that knowing something about one tells you something about another. If you believe in wave-function collapse, then the strange thing this is that the event causing the collapse is acting over a distance faster than the speed of light, but the many-worlds interpretation avoids all that.
I had already heard about Alan, but I still enjoyed the show a good deal. I agree that his original timeline more obviously had a preventable death, and the pseudo-symmetry with her didn’t really work. And I agree that Mike actual importance didn’t fit with his place in that last segment.
I also agree that this should be a one-and-done.
