We’re headed into what’s bound to be a particularly stressful week of political news in the United States, so here on the podcast we decided it was a good time to check in with What the Constitution Means to Me, a (mostly one-woman) play by Heidi Schreck that was filmed and is available streaming on Amazon Prime. Lovecraft Country seemed to de-emphasize horror and focus more on magic as it went on, but I never really understood the internal logic of how it worked. At the end of the episode a character explained what a spell had done and I had to just think “Huh, ok” not “Oh, that makes sense because of X, Y, & Z earlier”. I just listened to the Cast of Cthulhu podcast on the finale where they complained about characters saying right in the moment that a physical connection was required even though it hadn’t been mentioned before, but at least that can make a kind of intuitive sense. What didn’t make as much sense was for the effect to apply WAY beyond any limited range.
I think this is naturally a one-season show. What could possibly pose a threat to the heroes after this point?
