The Televerse #421- Spotlight on Unbelievable

Fall network premiere week is finally here—for most of the networks at least—giving Noel and Kate lots of TV to discuss. We skip the premieres discussed in our Fall Network TV Preview to keep things manageable, but there’s still a whole lot of TV to explore. First we dive in with the week’s comedy premieres, including mixed-ish, black-ish, The Good Place, Superstore, and Mom. Then we move over to drama and genre, with Kate giving her early thoughts on Netflix’s Criminal and both Noel and Kate sharing their reactions to the Emergence and Stumptown premieres, before rounding out the week’s TV with The Great British Bake Off’s “Dairy Week.” Afterward, it’s time for the spotlight section, and this episode we highlight Netflix’s celebrated miniseries Unbelievable, breaking down the performances, its relationship to its based-on-true written predecessors, and how it handles the challenging, but important subject matter of surviving trauma.

It’s the last week of respite before the deluge of fall network premieres begin! The Televerse #419- Spotlight on She-Ra and the Princesses of Power Season 3

Cold and flu season has come nice and early this year, and Kate has once again been hit. That doesn’t keep us from diving in with our usual look at the week’s TV, though. Next it’s time for finale talk, including the emotional conclusion of Queen Sugar season four and cliffhanging ends to A Black Lady Sketch Show season one and DuckTales season two. Afterward, we head over to the season spotlight and break down season three (or is it more like season two and a half?) of Netflix’s She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. What did you think of the week’s TV, and are you still following She-Ra? Take a listen, then reach out with your thoughts.
